Third graders investigated the concepts of pattern, still life, collage, value, and form in these hot chocolate still lives. Yum!

Pop Art Donuts
Third graders learned about pop art and the dessert art of Wayne Thiebaud. We stamped our 6 donuts using a pool noodle learning the printmaking process. Students designed 6 unique donut flavors and decorated using sequins, glaze squirt bottles, "powdered sugar" paint, and tempera paint. We used black paint to add value and shadow to our donuts.

David Hockney Swimming Portraits
Third graders looked at the art of David Hockney. We learned how to draw a person showing movement by drawing a stick figure, adding the joints (elbows and knees) and drawing around the stick figure to make it thicker. We painted the water using a wax resist method with oil pastel and watercolors.
